This afternoon around 12.15 Central Indonesian Time zone, about 20 activists from various institutions in South Kalimantan, such as WALHI South Kalimantan Local Executive, Lambung Mangkurat University Student Board (DEMA), Graminea mountaineering, Justitia mountaineering, Kompas Borneo UNLAM, LK3, YCHI and several other student elements executing solidarity act to respond for the arrest of 2 WALHI activist in Manado, Berry N Forqan (WALHI NE Director) and Erwin Usman (Chief of Regional Empowering Department).
This peaceful act it self performed in front of South Kalimantan regional police base. The act started with sitting quietly in front of regional police base as a symbol of police member action in Manado as a forced silence upon freedom of expression and to mourn the demise of government sensitivity upon the aspiration of civilian that had been put aside all this time by the policy issued by government.
The act was stopped by rain flushing Banjarmasin city but 20 minutes later after the rain eased; the crowd continue the act assembling in front of South Kalimantan regional police base. Singing Indonesia Raya and Darah Juang, this act friends continue with oration related with WALHI activist arrest in Manado. Achmad Rozani other wise called Ucok, DEMA UNLAM Chairman stated that the arrest marked the demise of this country democracy; the oration followed by act coordinator, Rakhmad Mulyadi other wise called Abu from WALHI South Kalimantan stated that we will never stop fighting even our body in prison and he also regret the authority action boldly arrest WALHI activist in Manado.
Beside oration, South Kalimantan regional police tried to negotiate with our side to disperse our self because we don’t have permit from the police, but suddenly South Kalimantan regional police stated that South Kalimantan regional police chief, Brigjen. Untung S. Radjab wants to meet the act members.
Finally all crowds enter South Kalimantan regional police base yard to meet the chief and deliver today’s solidarity act purpose. After delivering our opinion in front of the chief, we immediately dismiss our self. (Dwitho Frasetiandy)
